'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful shot from 25 yards, and his teammate promptly converted the rebound before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an incredible comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right defensive wing after the team changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they are adept at control and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in Wales. At the London club he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears the ball is moved without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

The player's only game for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "It was a long trip and it was chilly," he recalls, smiling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I realized I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the young professional was a constant rider in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to interact with the guys but I'm hoping to be the following person to drive independently and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Public Engagement

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would mix with followers on London's Central line after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
